#TuesdayTip - Lavender Essential Oil for Healthy Eye Lashes

Lavender essential oil is one of the most used essential oils in the world. Ancient texts tell us that lavender essential oil has been used for medicinal and religious purposes for over 2,500 years. The Egyptians used it for mummification and as a perfume. The Romans used it for bathing, cooking and for scenting the air. And, quite possibly the most famous usage of all, Mary used it to anoint Jesus with her hair and and some believe spikenard was made from lavender essential oil.

I used to despise the smell of lavender until I smelled Pure Lavender essential oil and realized that it smells really good and it’s one of my favorite oils now! The other Lavender that I didn’t like the  smell of, I realized, was because it was a synthetic lavender fragrance and not real lavender oil.

Lavender is most known for it’s relaxing property. A lot of people use it to fall asleep at night by rubbing it on the bottoms of their feet with some coconut oil, or by making a linen spray and spraying it on their pillows. I personally love smelling it before I fall asleep! I’ve been putting it on my husband’s hand with some shea butter because he has been having some sort of eczema or skin condition and it’s healing up quite nicely!

One of my favorite tips though is for all you ladies out there!

Put 2 drops in a new bottle of your mascara (if you only have half a bottle of mascara, just put one drop in). Swirl it around and apply your mascara. Every day when you put on your mascara the lavender oil will help condition your lashes and even lengthen them! Plus, it smells so good!

Try it and let me know what you think!

What a great tip! I love lavender oil. The pure form really is soothing. I grow a bunch in my garden and sometimes pick off a stem and carry it with me for a while just to have the scent near by.
