Frankincense & Lavender for Healing Scars | Healthy, Fit & Barefoot!

Two of my favorite essential oils are Frankincense and Lavender. They both have so many uses and benefits! I could write a whole page full of all the uses for both of them! But, I’m just going to share one tip today to use them both together. Take my #TuesdayTip each week and start using essential oils a little bit at a time so you get used to using them and learn new ways to incorporate them into your daily life.

Frankincense essential oil – There are over 50 Biblical references to Frankincense. Frankincense is considered the holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks. It was valued more than gold during ancient times, and only those with great wealth and abundance possessed it.  It is often diffused to enrich prayer, meditation, and enhance relaxation. Builds immunity, reduces inflammation, heals age spots, supports brain function and fights cancer.

Lavender essential oil – Most used essential oil in the world. Ancient texts tell us that lavender essential oil has been used for medicinal and religious purposes for over 2,500 years. The Egyptians used it for mummification and as a perfume. The Romans used it for bathing, cooking and for scenting the air. And, quite possibly the most famous usage of all, Mary used it to anoint Jesus with her hair and and some believe spikenard was made from lavender essential oil.

A great use for using Frankincense and Lavender oils together is for reducing the appearance of age spots and scars.

  • Try mixing lavender oil with frankincense essential oil and put it on your skin first thing in the morning, right after you shower and right before bed to reduce age spots and the appearance of scars.

Apply Lavender essential oil first then layer Frankincense on top.  The combination of these two oils together is amazing when it comes to healing wounds and reducing age spots. Mixing it with Shea Butter or Coconut Oil will help disperse it more effectively if you want to use it over a larger area. I love using Shea Butter with these two oils: because “Shea Butter has such a large healing fraction, in addition to moisturizing fraction, regular use of this natural cream can treat many skin problems, including blemishes, wrinkles, itching, sunburns, small skin wounds, eczema, skin allergies, insect bites, frost bite, and other skin conditions.”  More benefit when using Shea Butter with Frankincense and Lavender. Win-Win!

Be consistent with it and you will see results!

[…] Tip #6: Use a diffuser with Cedarwood, Lavender, Chamomile,  Spearmint, or Ylang Ylang. Pick one of these or combine a few of these and diffuse while you are sleeping. You can also rub a few drops on the bottom of your feet(specifically big toes) with Sweet Almond Oil or Coconut Oil before bed. I love the smell of Sweet Almond Oil and Cedarwood together. I rub this on my feet every night before bed, as well as cup it in my hands and inhale for 3 deep breaths. You can also put a few drops of an oil on a tissue or cotton ball and place it right under your pillow so you smell it all night long. I also rub a night cream on my face and neck right before bed that has Lavender and Frankincense which is good for age spots and wrinkles but is also very calming. If you missed this post you can find it here. […]
