How Much Water Should You Drink Every Day?

How Much Water Should You Drink? | Healthy, Fit & Barefoot!Happy Friday my friends!

So, I’ve recently spoken with a client who is stressed out about trying to drink half their bodyweight of water daily. I’ve heard a lot of people recommend this as a general rule, but depending on your bodyweight, this number could be a ton of water or not nearly enough. A 150 lb person would only need 75 ounces of water while a 250 lb person would need to drink 125 ounces of water daily. This doesn’t factor in whether or not you workout and/or sweat a lot….someone that works out and/or sweats a lot needs to drink even more water to replenish what they lost.

This is what I learned through my personal training courses: 91 ounces for women per day and 125 ounces for men per day.

There are various recommendations out there…like the old one “8 glasses of water a day” or “half your bodyweight in water”.

What you need to remember most, is not really how many ounces you are drinking, but that you are drinking more water than anything else. Sure, you might have a cup (or two or three) of coffee a day, and a beer or glass of wine with dinner, but make sure that you drink water first thing when you get up, and all day–throughout the day. Don’t stress out about counting exactly how many glasses or bottles you have had. If you haven’t had water in the last 60 minutes, then drink a tall glass of water to make sure you are hydrated.

If you’re exercising or outside working and sweating a lot, make sure you drink some water every 10-15 minutes so you don’t get dehydrated.

Tips to drink enough water throughout your day:

  • Drink a glass of water first thing when you wake up in the morning. This is one of the best Healthy Habits you can do and is an easy way to start your day.
  • Add lemon or lime or other fruits like frozen blueberries and/or cucumbers to your water if you don’t like the taste of plain water.
  • Carry a water bottle with you every where you go. I love my water bottle and don’t leave home with out it. (This is a reasonably priced water bottle that will keep your water cold all day long: Water Bottle)
  • Set a reminder on your phone to notify you once every hour to take a sip of water.

How much water do you drink and what tips do you use to help stay hydrated?

Stay Healthy my Friends!

I love water! I guess I’m one of the lucky ones and I just love to drink it. Of course, it helps that I always have my water bottle with me. I feel naked if I leave home without it!!

Me too!! I seriously can’t go 20 minutes without taking a sip of water lol If I know I’m going to be out for a while I take 2-3 water bottles with me too.
