If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I’m fascinated by understanding what’s actually happening inside our bodies—not just guessing.
Whether it’s strength training, nutrition, recovery, or now navigating perimenopause, I’ve always believed that better data leads to better decisions.
That’s why I was so excited when I became a Clair Insider.
Clair is developing what could become the world’s first wearable designed specifically to continuously monitor women’s hormonal health—without needles, blood draws, or having to remember to test every morning.
Instead of simply tracking your period, Clair is being built to help women better understand the hormonal changes happening throughout every phase of life.
Why This Is Different
Most wearables were built with fitness in mind.
They’re great at tracking things like:
- Heart rate
- Sleep
- Stress
- Recovery
- Activity
But here’s the problem…
Women’s hormones affect every one of those metrics.
A rise in resting heart rate after ovulation isn’t necessarily poor recovery.
Lower HRV isn’t always a sign you’re overtraining.
Changes in sleep aren’t always because you did something wrong.
Sometimes…
It’s simply your hormones.
Clair was designed with that understanding from the very beginning.
How Does It Work?
One of the biggest questions people ask is:
“How can it monitor hormones without taking blood?”
The answer is actually pretty fascinating.
Instead of directly measuring hormones, Clair analyzes over 130 physiological biomarkers—including changes in heart rate, heart rate variability, temperature, sleep, body composition, respiratory patterns, autonomic nervous system activity, and more—to recognize the unique patterns hormones create throughout your body. The company says these models are trained using paired wearable data and clinical-grade hormone measurements.
Think of it like how a continuous glucose monitor estimates blood glucose rather than directly sampling blood every second.

What Clair Will Help You Understand
According to Clair, the wearable is being built to provide insights for:
- Menstrual cycle tracking
- Ovulation detection
- Fertility planning
- Training and recovery
- Sleep
- Hormonal trends
- Stress and recovery
- Women’s health across different life stages
Future versions are also intended to provide estimated hormone values after additional clinical validation and regulatory clearance.
What About Perimenopause?
This is the part that caught my attention.
As someone currently navigating perimenopause, I’ve realized just how little information women have during this stage of life.
Many of us are left wondering:
- Why am I suddenly anxious?
- Why is my sleep changing?
- Why is belly fat showing up?
- Why do I feel amazing one week and exhausted the next?
Clair says future clinical studies will specifically include women in perimenopause because hormonal fluctuations during this stage create measurable physiological changes that wearable sensors may be able to detect.
I’m really excited to see where this research goes.
What I Appreciate Most
One thing I really respect is that Clair is upfront about what they know—and what they’re still studying.
They’re transparent that:
- This isn’t FDA-cleared as a medical device yet.
- More clinical research is underway.
- Independent validation studies are planned.
- They aren’t claiming perfection.
That honesty gives me much more confidence than companies making exaggerated promises.
Why I’m Joining Early
I love being part of innovations that have the potential to improve women’s health.
For decades, women have had to piece together information from symptoms, calendars, and occasional lab work.
The idea of having continuous insights into what’s happening inside our own bodies is incredibly exciting.
I’m looking forward to following Clair’s journey and seeing how this technology develops.
