I’ve been talking about healthy habits for many many years now and they do change over the years as we go through various health and wellness journey’s. For example, smoothies and green juice use to be healthy habits for me, but as I learn more about glucose levels and how maintaining steady glucose levels throughout the day is so much more important for metabolic health, I’ve cut those out of my diet.
The following are healthy habits that I’ve adopted and plan on continuing this year:
Supplementing my Diet
Colostrum, beef organs, liquid collagen, bioactive peptides, beef isolate protein powder, creatine, electrolytes and CBD have all become staples in my supplement routine.
- Colostrum – Supports gut health by promoting the repair of intestinal lining and improving digestion. • Enhances immune function with immunoglobulins and growth factors. My favorite brand is from WonderCow. They have a powder and now capsules as well. And their colostrum creamer is my favorite healthy coffee creamer. Use code: CARRIEFIT for 15% off (can be stacked with subscription to give you 30% off first order)
- Beef Organs – Provides a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, B12, and iron. • Supports energy production and overall vitality. My favorite brand is MK Supplements because the organs are all from grass-fed cows and packaged in glass containers. They are also working on reducing plastic packaging on the lid and well as compostable packing. Save 15% on one time order or 25% on first subscription with code: CARRIEFIT
- Liquid Collagen – Promotes skin elasticity and hydration, reducing signs of aging. • Supports joint and bone health by enhancing cartilage strength. Liquid form of collagen is also more absorbable in the body which is why I prefer it over powder collagen (but if you love the powder version then keep taking it, I think the benefits are still amazing). Two of my favorite brands of liquid collagen are Oliveda and Primabiotic. You can save 25% with Oliveda by becoming an affiliate or you can save 10% with my code: carrie10 with Primabiotic.
- Bioactive Peptides – Bioactive Precision Peptides work WITH your body’s natural chemistry to deliver faster, more effective results. They can help with reducing visceral fat, increasing protein synthesis, reducing brain fog and protecting your eyes from blue light, help you sleep and reduce anxiety and stress, give you natural energy and more. You can purchase these through my affiliate link here and to save money you can put them on subscription and get 20% off by your 3rd order.
- Beef Isolate Protein Powder – Provides a high-quality, easily digestible source of protein. • Supports muscle repair, recovery, and overall strength. My favorite brand of beef isolate protein powder is from Equip because they don’t put any junk ingredients in their powders and use stevia to sweeten them (except for their new flavor Cinnamon Roll which contains coconut sugar and monkfruit.) You can save 15% with my code: CARRIEFIT (if you’re looking for other healthy brands of protein powder, check out my blog post with my top recommended protein powder brands)
- Creatine -Enhances strength and power during workouts. • Supports brain health and cognitive performance. This is the brand I’m currently using, but there are plenty of different good quality brands out there. Just make sure the only ingredient is creatine. Monohydrate or Instantized are the best.
- Electrolytes – Boosts muscle protein synthesis for better recovery and growth. • Provides energy and reduces muscle breakdown during exercise. (I’ve mentioned electrolytes before and have a great blog post to help you find the healthiest brand for you)
- CBD – Helps reduce inflammation and manage chronic pain. • Promotes relaxation and improves sleep quality. Joy Organics is my favorite brand of CBD because it’s all organic and they use Nano technology to help your body absorb the CBD better.
Using the Cleanest, Non-Toxic Skincare & Haircare
Your skin and hair deserve the same level of care and attention as the rest of your body. By switching to clean and non-toxic skincare and haircare products, you can reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and promote long-term health. Here are some of my favorite brands that I will continue to use in 2025:
- Oliveda Skincare • Formulated with antioxidant-rich olive leaf extract to nourish and protect the skin. • Free from synthetic fragrances, parabens, and harmful chemicals, ensuring a natural and effective skincare experience. My skin has been glowing since I started using Oliveda skincare…and my dark spot on my face is fading away! If you’re not sure which products would be best for your skin, you can take the skincare quiz or message me for more help.
- Primally Pure Skincare • Uses simple, organic ingredients to create highly effective skincare products. • Offers a range of options, from deodorants to facial serums, that are free from toxins and artificial additives. My husband and I absolutely love their Tallow Body Butter and their lip balm. They have a Cycle Spray that is in my shopping cart to try as well. And if you love natural room sprays, theirs are all natural and non-toxic. Code: CARRIEAGROFF will save you 10% if you decide to try anything.
- Prose Haircare • Provides personalized haircare solutions tailored to your unique hair needs. • Made with clean, sustainable ingredients and free from sulfates, parabens, and silicones. I’ve tried multiple natural and non-toxic hair care brands and I keep going back to Prose. I love that it’s customized to where I live, our humidity levels and even how hard our water is. If you want to try it, you can save $20 with my Refer-A-Friend link.
- Breathe Naturals – This is seriously the BEST natural deodorant I’ve found and trust me…I’ve tried them all! Code: CARRIE gets you 10% off if you want to try.
Eating Habits to Continue in 2025
My approach to eating has evolved over the years, and these are the habits I’m carrying into 2025:
- No Snacking: Avoiding snacks between meals helps maintain steady glucose levels and supports better digestion. I used to get HANGRY all the time and literally couldn’t leave the house without a snack in my purse. But since I stopped snacking and made sure my 3 meals are full of protein and fat, I don’t get HANGRY and irritable. Plus, it’s helped with my bloating as well.
- Prioritizing Protein: Ensuring each meal includes a high-protein component to promote satiety, muscle repair, and metabolic health.
- Reducing but Not Eliminating Carbs and Fiber: Adjusting carb and fiber intake to support digestion and overall gut health, while focusing on bio-individual needs. I used to get bloated and gassy all the time, but now that I’ve lowered my carb and fiber intake, that has gone away and I feel so much better. If you need help figuring out the correct amount of carbs and fiber for you, send me a message and I would be happy to help.
- Avoiding Seed Oils: Choosing healthy fats like olive oil, butter, and avocado oil to minimize inflammation and support heart health. Seed oils have been proven to increase inflammation in our body and they are highly processed oils that should be avoided as much as possible.
- Eating Whole Foods and Minimally Processed Foods: Opting for foods with the fewest ingredients and avoiding additives ensures I’m nourishing my body with nutrient-dense options.
- Batch Cooking: Preparing meals in bulk has been a game-changer for saving time and ensuring I have healthy options ready throughout the week. By cooking larger portions of proteins & veggies, I can mix and match components for balanced meals that are both quick and delicious. (Grab my free Batch Cooking Guide)
- Drinking Organic Coffee – Choosing organic coffee ensures you’re avoiding harmful pesticides and supporting sustainable farming practices. Equip Foods Clean Coffee is a great option for a clean, high-quality coffee that aligns with your health goals. Code: CARRIEFIT saves you 15%
- Reading Nutrition Labels – I’ve been doing this for many years, and sadly it’s something I believe we will have to do forever because companies just love sneaking in junk ingredients into our food.
Using Non-Toxic Cleaning Products and Organic Linens
Creating a healthier home environment is just as important as maintaining healthy personal habits. In 2025, I’ll continue prioritizing non-toxic cleaning products and organic linens. Here are just a few of my favorite non-toxic brands:
- Force of Nature Cleaner: A powerful, eco-friendly cleaning solution made from salt, water, and vinegar.
- Sonnet Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Gentle yet effective, free of harsh chemicals.
- Seventh Generation Dishwashing Liquid: Plant-based, biodegradable, and safe for the environment. This is the only brand so far that I can find that works like my old Melaleuca dishwasher liquid. Our plumber told us to not use powder in our dishwasher so it’s been a struggle trying to find effective and non-toxic LIQUID dishwasher soap. If there is a non-toxic brand you use and love, tell me in the comments.
- Attitude Hand Soap: Hypoallergenic and made with clean ingredients.
- Bloop Laundry Soap: Effective, non-toxic, and safe for both clothes and skin. I just recently switched to Bloop and so far we love it. I also love Clean People, especially their dryer sheets.
Switching to organic linens reduces exposure to harmful pesticides and synthetic materials. These choices align with a cleaner, more sustainable lifestyle.
- Bare Home is an affordable brand of organic bedding I’ve recently discovered and started using. Shopping for sheets is my least favorite thing to do because they either don’t stay on the bed or they aren’t comfortable or they are just ridiculously expensive.
- Wild & Stone is another great brand I’ve found that makes the most beautiful hand and dish towels from organic cotton.
Additional Healthy Habits to Continue in 2025
- Not Drinking Out of Plastic Bottles: Choosing glass or stainless steel water bottles to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals and support environmental sustainability. We haven’t purchased bottle water for probably 12-15 years now, so it’s a habit we will continue with for the rest of our lives. I just switched my older Yeti (which I still love to use) to the Brumate Leakproof Tumbler which I love because I can easily carry it to and from training client sessions and not worry about it leaking or spilling when my hands are full.
- Getting Morning Sunshine: Spending time outside in the morning to boost vitamin D levels and regulate your circadian rhythm.
- Walking 8-10K Steps Daily: Prioritizing daily movement to improve cardiovascular health, support mental clarity, and enhance overall fitness.
- Strength Training 4-5 Days a Week: Building muscle and improving bone density through regular resistance training.
- Mobility/Yoga 2-3 Days a Week: Enhancing flexibility, reducing stress, and supporting joint health through consistent mobility work and yoga practice.
- Wearing Sunglasses Less Often: Allowing natural light exposure to the eyes, which can help regulate circadian rhythms and overall health. The only time I now wear my sunglasses is if I’m driving and it’s too bright that it impairs my vision to see where I’m going.
- Using Non-Toxic Cookware and Wooden Cooking Utensils: Replacing black plastic utensils with wooden ones and using non-toxic cookware to reduce exposure to harmful chemicals while cooking.
- Using Reusable Towels Instead of Paper Towels: Reducing waste by incorporating more reusable towels for cleaning and household tasks.
- Using Bamboo Toilet Paper – This is a great way to save the trees and all the lint that you have to clean up in your bathroom lol. Plus, it’s PFAS-free which is so much healthier for your private area. Bamboo toilet paper isn’t quite as soft as regular TP, but it’s not so terrible that I don’t mind using it.
- Using Non-Toxic Fragrance Options: Choosing cleaner alternatives like Pura air fresheners or Enviroscent over traditional chemical-laden options like Febreeze.
Habits I Want to Work on in 2025
- Learning More About Circadian Rhythm and UV Light: Expanding my knowledge to optimize sleep, energy, and overall well-being.
- Using More Compostable Products: Incorporating eco-friendly alternatives like compostable ziplock baggies into daily life to reduce waste.
- Using My Grounding Mat More: Making a conscious effort to use the grounding mat, especially during colder months when outdoor grounding isn’t feasible.
- Using My Red Light Therapy Panel More Consistently: Establishing a regular routine to reap the full benefits of red light therapy for recovery and overall health. I’m good at using my red light therapy belt because I can put it on my low back in the evening when watching tv. But getting my panel out and figuring out a consistent time I can use it has been a struggle.
- Take One Week Each Month to Go Without All Sugar and Alcohol: Creating a regular reset period to support metabolic health and overall well-being. I did this with my Facebook Group and loved it! I don’t eat much sugar so for me it was all about eliminating any sweetness including healthy sweetness like Stevia from my diet which was quite eye-opening.
If you’re still here, thank you for taking the time to read through all this and I would love to hear what habits you’re wanting to work on in 2025!
Stay Healthy my Friends!
XO,
Carrie A Groff
