On Tuesday morning I was trying to find a quick, healthy and filling chocolate avocado smoothie to make to take with me as I was heading out the door to a women’s networking group that my business partner and I run. I usually eat every 3 hours or so throughout the day so I didn’t want to have my breakfast too early before I left the house, then by the time I got to our group I would be starving lol I ate a snack after my morning HIIT routine then figured I would drink my smoothie on my way to our group.
I’m not very creative in the kitchen (except for once in a blue moon I come up with something exceptional all by myself). For the most part I need to follow a recipe, so Pinterest is my best friend! We get together on a daily basis!
I was hungry for something chocolatey and since I normally eat avocado with my eggs in the morning I wanted to find a smoothie with avocado in it so I searched Pinterest for “Chocolate Avocado Breakfast Smoothie”. That’s when I found this recipe.
Here’s the recipe:
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 banana
1/2 avocado
1 TBSP raw honey or 4 dates (used raw honey)
2 TBSP raw cocoa powder
2 TBSP Organic Almond Butter/Peanut Butter (I was all out of almond butter so I used peanut butter)
1 1/2 tsp flaxseeds
Sprinkle of cinnamon (I put cinnamon in everything…so good for you!)
Some Ice Cubes (I don’t like my smoothies super cold so I just used a few ice cubes)
Blend until all smooth and enjoy!
This was a perfect breafast for this day too since our women’s networking group was being held at a yummy Chocolate Retail Store! Macris Chocolates in Lemoyne, PA is a local store that makes all their chocolates from scratch and uses the same recipe that was used in the 1920’s by Elena Macris’s family.
I was tagged to #StopDropAndYoga that morning too so I did a fun Dancer’s Pose while in the store.
One of the ladies in our group was enjoying a piece of chocolate and said to me “I feel guilty eating chocolate this early in the morning” (our group meets from 8:30-9:45 AM) So I told her that I never feel guilty about eating chocolate and I read a study that said it’s actually better if you eat chocolate (or something sweet) first thing in the day because it quenches that craving and you have the rest of the day to burn it off. She said she felt much better about eating it after I told her that.
I have been dreaming about this yummy smoothie! I wanted to lick the glass mason jar clean it was that tasty!
Do you have a favorite healthy chocolate smoothie? Please do share!
