Below you’ll find a few ways you can use some affordable fitness products to enhance your workouts and get more from them so that you don’t have to change or modify your favorite routines. We go through Yoga, agility training and even running(or walking).
Please consult with your doctor before starting any physical activity.
How to Amp Up Your Running(or Walking) Game
If your getting bored with your current running or walking routine and you’re not sure how to amp it up…here are two simple ways you can increase your performance and feel like you’re getting more out of that run or walk.
Using ankle weights while walking or running is a quick and easy way to strengthen your legs and glutes (even your core!)
Using weighted gloves for more of an arm and upper body workout.
One more simple way to amp up your run or walk is to change up your scenery. Take it to a local park or even to the mountains or the beach if you are near one of them.
Ways to Get More From Agility Training
Agility, strength and stamina can plateau, but when you find a routine that you love, it is hard to break from it. That’s why you have an assortment of weighted products which not only help to increase the level of your workout, but make it difficult like when you first started. Start by upping your current gear by choosing higher hurdles or agility ladders with extra rigs. Next add in some weighted products that work with your routine without impairing your ability to perform the exercises safely.
Ankle Weights – ProSource Ankle Weights are a comfortable, convenient way to up the intensity of your workouts and gently sculpt and tone muscle. Just grab a pair and go! Add in some extra hills to really work those hamstrings and glutes too!
Weighted Vests – Increase your endurance and strength with a weighted training vest. These are also great for hiking or beach workouts.
Weighted Gloves – Get the arm-sculpting benefit of weights during your cardio without the hassle of trying to hang onto dumbbells.
Kettlebells – Add in kettlebell swings after each agility exercise.
Tips to Amp Up Your Yoga Game
If you know me, you know I LOVE yoga and practice daily. Here are some fun ways to amp up your yoga game if you’re ready for it.
Yoga Blocks – I love adding yoga blocks for poses like arm balances, forward folds and even splits. Not only do they help you in certain poses when you can’t reach the floor but they also help you get into a deeper stretch once you are already quite flexible.
Adding blocks under my feet helps me get a better stretch in my forward fold.
Adding a block to my splits (over-splits pose) helps me get into a bit of a more advanced splits. Someday I’ll try a splits with a yoga block under each leg!
EPK elevated on yoga blocks challenges my balance but also gives me a little more height in the pose 🙂
Yoga Straps – Yoga straps not only help you with your flexibility and mobility but you can also do a fun ab workout using a strap. Add in some “line hops” to your yoga routine by jumping over the rope on the floor in between some vinyasa flows or as a warm-up.
Dumbbells – You can easily add dumbbells to your yoga workout as well! I love doing crow man-makers, boat pose with biceps curls or chair pose with curls (or rows) just to name a few. Oh and tricep kickbacks in warrior and shoulder presses in crescent lunge. So many fun options!
To do a “crow man-maker” start off in crow pose on your dumbbells then jump back into your plank then jump up into a squat (still holding onto the dumbbells) then keeping good form in your squat grab the dumbbells and rack them on your shoulders then stand up and do a shoulder press. (I think I have a video of this somewhere!)
What are some ways you like to AMP up your exercise routines? Do you add in agility routines (inside or outside) or have you tried adding dumbbells to your yoga routine?
