So I was reading a post the other day about how it’s better for your metabolism to change up the foods you eat. I eat the same breakfast every day. I usually mix up my lunch and dinner, but I love my morning breakfast of 2 eggs, Ezekiel sprouted toast, sliced tomato and sliced avocado with a half a grapefruit and Yerba Mate tea.
I then found another article stating that eating the same foods daily could possibly cause food allergies. So, I thought I would do some more research and see what I could find on this subject matter.
Here’s what I found:
Consistency in your meals decreases the stress of “dieting” which will lessen the chances of abandoning your weight loss or healthy eating efforts. It’s recommended that you choose a meal that you rush through the most to eat the same every day so you won’t have to think about what to eat, agonize over choices and make your healthy eating efforts easier.
Shopping is easier when you make one or two meals the same every day. You know what you are buying so you aren’t browsing the store too much leading to picking up unhealthy food items.
You become more disciplined by eating the same meals every day.
Eating the same meal daily may cause you to have a food allergy. The reason is that you don’t think about what your eating so you don’t digest it properly which leads to food allergies. (I’m thinking to myself “eat slowly and be mindful of what you’re eating and you will digest it properly)
It depends on the person. Some people need the type of discipline that a strict regimen brings, others see it as too restricting.
As long as you’re eating nutritious foods and a well-balanced diet it doesn’t matter.
So, my take on all this is that it really depends on the type of person you are and what you prefer. If you are trying to lose weight or just starting out eating healthy, then eating the same foods daily may make it easier on you to stick with it. On the other hand, if you get really bored with eating the same foods and don’t like a strict regimen then you might need to change it up daily.
I personally prefer to stick with similar foods but still eating a nutritious and well-balanced diet. I love scouring Pinterest for new recipes, but sometimes it takes me forever to find the right recipe. If I have a handful of healthy meals that I don’t need recipes for it makes it easier until I find new ones to add in to my rotation. I try and find one new recipe a week to make and I change up my recipes a bit to add in some variation and keep them nutritious.
What’s your thoughts on this subject and what do you typically do?
