I recently received Brightcore Nutrition’s TrueFood Chocolate Superfood powder and Sweet Wheat Wheat Grass Powder Capsules to sample. I have always know that wheat grass was full of many health benefits but I never got around to trying it. I heard lots of stories of how bad wheat grass tastes so I was never really inclined to try it, even though I’m the type of person that will eat or drink anything, even if it doesn’t taste good, as long as I know it’s providing health benefits to my body. My husband, on the other hand, won’t eat or drink something if he doesn’t like it, no matter how many health benefits it has.
Health Benefits of Wheat Grass from Organic Authority:
One ounce of wheatgrass contains 120 calories, 8 grams of dietary fiber, 240% of the RDA of vitamin A, 93% of the RDA of vitamin C, 356% of the RDA of iron, and 12% of the RDA of calcium. It also contains 8 grams of protein.
Wheatgrass is overflowing with vitamins, amino acids, liver enzymes, and chlorophyll. It contains 98 of 102 earth elements found in soil, including phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium as well as essential enzymes and 19 amino acids. It also bears more vitamin A and C than oranges and carrots and is rich in vitamins E, K, and B.
Chlorophyll, a phytochemical that is what gives dark leafy greens their color, is essentially the blood of plants and is what makes wheatgrass so powerful. Chlorophyll reverses aging, suppresses hunger, cleanses the blood, combats odor, and prevents cancer. Wheatgrass is 70% chlorophyll, making it a concentrated carrier of the sun’s life force energy.
I love all the amazing ingredients in the TrueFood Chocolate Superfood formula. Here is the description on Brightcore’s website:
Straight from Mother Nature, TrueFood™ Chocolate is made with 78 ingredients, including vegetables, fruits, herbs, probiotics, omegas and enzymes. Wholefood sourced and free of anything artificial , it is truly a one-stop product for your daily health and wellness*. Blended with organic cocoa and cacao for a delicious chocolate taste!
Each ingredient found in TrueFood™ has been thoroughly researched and carefully chosen to ensure, when combined into one formula, they provide the maximum synergistic benefits possible.
It is incredibly simple to take and available in two delicious flavors: Original (no added flavors or sweeteners) and Chocolate (blended with organic cocoa and cacao)
I also love that they list all the ingredients and the health benefits of each ingredient! I’m all about eating as many foods that have lots of health benefits. I recently took my mom grocery shopping to help her buy healthy ingredients to make 2 recipes that she can make for breakfast that can be done the night or day before and she was asking me why I use that ingredient and I would tell her the health benefits of that item and why it’s in that particular recipe.
The TrueFood Chocolate has a strong wheatgrass flavor, which is described as “earthy”. I tried this with just almond milk and it’s just a bit too strong flavored for me so I made a yummy Iced Superfood Mocha Latte with it by adding coffee, more cocoa powder and 2 medjool dates to it. This made it much more pleasing to the palate.
Iced Superfood Mocha Latte Recipe:
- 8 oz Unsweeted Vanilla Almond Milk
- 4 oz Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee
- 2 Medjool Dates (pitted)
- 1 TBSP Organic Cocoa Powder
- 1 scoop TrueFood Chocolate Superfood
- 1/2 TBSP coconut oil
Blend well and enjoy! You can add some ice cubes to it if you want it colder. The almond milk and cold brew coffee are both cold so it was cold enough for me.
I started taking 2 of the Sweet Wheat Wheat Grass Powder Capsules in the am in between lunch and dinner and then the Iced Superfood Mocha Latte in the afternoon and I have so much energy throughout the day. I love it! The capsules smell earthy and you can see the green powder inside them, but they don’t have a taste. These are great if you really can’t get past the taste of wheat grass.

Brightcore Nutrition was gracious enough to give all of my readers a 25% discount code: carrie25 so you can try one or both of these products and see for yourself the wonderful benefits.
Check out their website and let me know if you try any of their wheat grass products!

The TrueFood Blend sounds really interesting, and I like all the ingredients, but I do have to admit I hate when companies use words like “Detoxifying”–it’s mostly just false advertising, and kind fear mongering-ish in my opinion. Very few things you can eat are actually the definition of “toxic”, at least at the levels we are consuming them. And beyond that toxic in itself is subjective; even things that are considered “good” for us could be toxic at extreme levels. Also kinda curious to know what all those fun little * are hiding. I’m assuming it’s “This statement has not been proven by the FDA.” Which, of course, doesn’t necessarily make them untrue, but I guess I just wish companies involving our health and fitness could work a little more on being open and upfront and a little less on the marketing.
Not to be all negative on your post! Despite all this I’d still look into the blend. Though for some reason I haven’t been able to get into almond milk (the taste is just too weird for me). I *love* the idea of mixing it with coffee, that’s brilliant! I wouldn’t have thought of that.

Hello! I hope you do try the TrueFood Blend with coffee. You can make this with coconut milk, another dairy alternative or regular milk if you wish. I just prefer almond milk, and actually the only brand that I actually like the taste of is: Califia Farms unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk.
TrueFood Blend is super yummy and the reason they mention detoxifying is because certain ingredients that are in the blend have detoxifying properties, like Wheatgrass. They list all their ingredients on the product page on their website and it gives the benefits of each of those ingredients. And legally, they have to put the * stating that the statements they make have not been evaluated by the FDA but it doesn’t mean they are hiding anything and even if the FDA did evaluate it, it doesn’t mean they would agree. I think Brightcore Nutrition is one of the most open and honest companies out there. Let me know if you try it! The 25% discount is a great time to try it 🙂 Thanks for commenting!
