Whew! It’s Friday and I feel like this week has just flown by! This was one of those crazy, hectic, and a bit overwhelming type of weeks, but I feel like I got a lot accomplished and am looking forward to the weekend to relax just a bit (lots of studying to do for my Personal Trainer exam with NCCPT coming up!).
Even though it was a crazy week, I still got my 5 am sweat sessions in which makes me feel great and really sets up my day filling me with energy and a healthy mindset. Exercising releases those “feel good” endorphin’s and sweating gets rid of those toxins from your body that you build up.
When sweating a lot, our bodies lose important electrolytes (mainly sodium and potassium) which are important for nerve and muscular functions. They also help regulate hydration, blood pressure, blood ph levels and the rebuilding of damaged tissue.
Sodium, potassium and calcium are important electrolytes for muscle contractions. If your electrolyte levels are off it can lead to weak muscles or imbalanced muscle contractions.
There are some health consequences from having electrolyte imbalances like; irregular heartbeat, weakness, bone disorders, twitching, blood pressure changes, confusion, fatigue, muscle spasms & nervous system disorders.
So after a good sweat session, it’s important to replace electrolytes that we lost. We can get electrolytes from food sources such as fresh fruit and vegetables and we can also get them from electrolyte replacement drinks. One issue I have with electrolyte replacement drinks is
that most of them are loaded with artificial sugars, flavors, colors and other unnecessary ingredients. You can make your own electrolyte drink, like my recipe here, or you can get EnduroPacks Electrolyte Spray, which I recently received to review and I am in love with this little bottle! You just spray 10 drops in your bottle of water and your body is supplied with 13 naturally-occuring ionic minerals to get your body back in balance.
Even if you don’t sweat a lot it’s important for proper hydration, especially the elderly, who tend to become dehydrated easier.
EnduroPacks Electrolyte Spray contains no sugar, preservatives, artificial flavors or calories. It’s just a simple and natural way to get the electrolytes your body needs.
This little bottle is also going in my beach bag this summer to stay properly hydrated in the hot weather! One bottle makes 60 drinks too!
Stay Healthy (and hydrated) my Friends!
