Happy Tuesday my healthy friends! Got that bloated feeling? You know that feeling that makes you feel like if you put a pin in your stomach it will burst? Bloating is uncomfortable and makes you just want to put on sweatpants and an oversized shirt. We all get it from time to time, whether it’s caused by something we ate (beans, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts), eating too fast, or maybe it’s that time of the month. Whatever caused it, it’s a good time to figure out what it was so you can try and prevent it in the future. Sometimes you might find out that you have a gluten or dairy sensitivity and when you remove that item from your diet the bloating goes away. Other times, you have no idea why it happened, you just know you want it to go away.
These are just a few essential oils that can help you get rid of that bloated feeling and get back to that light, flat stomach feeling you love. You can diffuse these oils or apply them topically with a carrier oil.
- 20 drops Peppermint essential oil – one of the best and well-known oils to help with bloating (and upset bellies)
- 20 drops Lemon essential oil – great for digestion as it relieves constipation and relieves nausea
- 20 drops Rosemary essential oil – uses may also include relieving an upset stomach, as it seems to provide a calmative effect when its essence is inhaled. This is thought to be because it reduces the frequency and severity of muscle spasms that can contribute to digestive discomfort.
- Fill the rest of a 10 ml rollerball with a carrier oil like almond oil or coconut oil. Roll on your lower abdomen and massage.
You can also do a few other things to help with bloating like chewing on ginger (my grandma always keeps ginger candy in her fridge to chew on after dinner), chew on fennel seeds, drink some chamomile, peppermint or clove tea (do not ingest essential oils), go for a brisk 30 minute walk, do a few jumping jacks, or some yoga poses like child’s pose or happy baby pose.
Do you have any de-bloating tips and tricks that you found work?
Stay Healthy my Friends!
