I’m an early morning exerciser. I love getting up early and getting my workout done for the day. Sometimes later in the evening I will do a stretching video or if I sit at my computer too much during the day I will get up and do a short 15 minute walk, or something to get me up and moving.
I usually wake up around 4:30/4:45 and I’m always hungry when I wake up so I want something to eat before I work out but don’t want to eat a lot, so I’m always looking for new ideas of quick and light snacks to eat before my early morning workout.
Here are a few of my favorites:
One of my favorite snacks, is a super healthy protein shake that I recently tried and fell in love with called Ka’Chava. Ka’Chava shakes are an all-in-one shake with so many superfoods in it, it’s incredible! I love the chocolate one mixed with almond or coconut milk. It gives me sustained energy and helps build lean muscle for my workout. It’s good pre or post-workout. Lately, I’ve been using it before my workout because it literally takes less than 1 minute to mix!
Ka’Chava is a bit expensive (but definitely reasonable considering all the super foods it contains) so here are a few other ideas of home-made pre-workout ideas for your early morning workout:
This first idea is something I saved from my Oxygen magazine and is a Java Smoothie:
Another great smoothie is this Vanilla Almond Protein Smoothie I found on PopSugar
Oats are also a delicious way to fuel up before a workout and my favorite way to make them is the night before like with this yummy recipe: Honey Cinnamon Overnight Oats. What’s fun about this recipe is that you can top it with any kind of fruit you like. I love topping mine with strawberries or blueberries and some walnuts.
Another quick idea is just some organic full-fat Greek style yogurt topped with chopped walnuts. I purchase my greek style yogurt from a local business and it’s so thick and creamy and because it’s full fat it isn’t bitter like a lot of Greek yogurts are and there aren’t any unnecessary additives or sugars. Then I just top it with chopped walnuts. Yum!
After I workout I usually eat a bigger breakfast like my go-to eggs served over Ezekiel toast with tomato and avocado.
What do you eat before your early morning workout! I’m always looking for new ideas!

These are great ideas! I am so boring. I usually just eat a piece of gluten free toast with almond butter, haha!
