Happy Tuesday! Today’s tip is for all of us that suffer from headaches, whether it be a tension headache, sinus headache, cluster headache, or even a migraine. We all get them and unfortunately NSAIDs have nasty side effects and can cause liver damage in the long term, so instead of popping a pill to try and get some relief, just pull out the peppermint and lavender oil.
Take 1 drop peppermint & 1 drop of lavender and a few drops coconut or sweet almond oil in your hand. Rub the oils with your finger tips the whole way around your hair line making a “halo” around your head. The peppermint oil is going to feel nice and cool and open up those blood vessels which will relieve your headache pressure almost instantly. I like to top it with the lavender because it is a relaxing oil and smells good with the peppermint.
This is my favorite way to get rid of headaches. If this isn’t strong enough you could add another drop of peppermint and if your headache is a tension headache that is from sitting at a computer to much, make sure you rub the base of the head by the spine as that’s where we tend to hold a lot of tension causing tension headaches. You can also rub this on your neck and shoulders as well to relieve tension.
When using peppermint essential oil, it’s best to use it with a carrier oil and make sure you don’t touch your eyes or any other sensitive body parts, as it will cause a strong cooling sensation. You also want to make sure you don’t use peppermint oil near any children 3 years or younger. Spearmint can be used on them instead.
Stay Healthy my Friends (and headache free!)
